FORGE 193 - Pitching + Athlete Development
Individualized pitching and athlete development built around the athlete in front of us - combining movement, physical development, pitching instruction, technology and competitive development into one connected system.
High-touch development
Direct founder access. Individualized programming. Progress tracked over time.
FORGE trains out of Upper Deck Training Facility in Southern Maine - the space and tools that make the program possible. FORGE prescribes the work.
What FORGE is
A lesson addresses a moment. Development requires a system.
FORGE connects assessment, pitching instruction, physical development, independent work, feedback and retesting around one athlete and one plan.
The plan also connects arm care, physical development, movement, video, pitch-design data when appropriate, accountability and mental performance.
Offseason cycle
Each phase follows the athlete's needs and progress.
Foundation
Assess the athlete, improve movement, establish pitching preparation, arm care, physical development, routines and understanding.
Individual work
Pitching mechanics, sequencing, pitch development, command, physical development, drill work, video feedback and data when appropriate.
Competitive transfer
Intent, execution, pitch usage, game-like environments, bullpens and decision-making under pressure.
Pitching philosophy
FORGE teaches pitchers to initiate the action. Dictate the at-bat. Attack with intent. Own the count. Compete with conviction.
Founder story
Justin Collop grew up in the Detroit area, went from true college walk-on to baseball at the University of Toledo, and was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Draft - 193rd overall.
